Woman shot in Southeast DC; gunman on the loose

A late-night shooting left a woman wounded in Southeast D.C. as police search for answers in the ongoing investigation

WASHINGTON, D.C. — A woman was hospitalized Wednesday night after being shot in Southeast Washington, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.

Police responded to a report of gunfire in the 4600 block of 6th Street SE at approximately 10:40 p.m. Upon arrival, officers located a female victim who was conscious and breathing, suffering from at least one gunshot wound.

The woman was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Authorities did not provide details about the nature or severity of her injuries.

As of Thursday morning, police had not confirmed whether any arrests had been made in connection with the shooting. Police have issues a lookout for a silver Cadillac SUV that may have been involved in the shooting.
