MAGA Mayor Mario Kranjac backs Jack Ciattarelli after New Jersey GOP primary

ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, N.J. — Mayor Mario Kranjac, known as the “Trumpy Mayor of Englewood Cliffs,” issued a statement Wednesday following the 2025 New Jersey GOP primary, offering his support to gubernatorial nominee Jack Ciattarelli.

“Last night, I called and texted my congratulations to our nominee, Jack Ciattarelli, on his victory,” Kranjac stated. “Jack has been laser focused on winning the governorship for nine years.”

Kranjac, a staunch supporter of former President Donald Trump, also sharply criticized Democratic nominee Mikie Sherrill, calling her platform a “grave threat to the future of New Jersey.” He cited concerns over taxes, energy prices, sanctuary cities, abortion policies, gun regulations, election security, and school curricula.

“Sherrill’s record is atrocious,” Kranjac said, referencing her votes in Congress and her campaign activities. “Every Republican who had a stake in the Primary should consider what four years under Mikie Sherrill would do to our state.”

Call for GOP unity ahead of general election

In his statement, Kranjac urged Republicans to unite behind Ciattarelli for the general election. He specifically called on former primary opponents Jon Bramnick, Bill Spadea, and Justin Barbera to publicly back Ciattarelli, emphasizing the need for party unity.

“My goal remains to save New Jersey and to make it great again by defeating the misguided, craven, and damaging policies of Sherrill and the Democrat Party,” Kranjac added.

The general election campaign now moves forward with Ciattarelli set to face Sherrill in what is expected to be a closely watched gubernatorial race.
