ABINGDON, Md. — A 33-year-old man was killed early Sunday morning in a hit-and-run crash on northbound I-95 in Harford County, according to Maryland State Police.

Troopers from the JFK Memorial Highway Barrack responded to the scene just south of the Riverside Parkway exit around 2:08 a.m., where they found the male pedestrian deceased. His identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Preliminary investigation indicates the pedestrian was walking in the left lane of the interstate when he was struck by a vehicle believed to be a 2021–2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The driver fled the scene and has not yet been identified.

Maryland State Police said the vehicle did not stop after the collision. Investigators have not determined why the pedestrian was on the highway or whether any additional vehicles were involved.

The Maryland State Police Crash Team is leading the investigation. No arrests have been made and the suspect vehicle remains at large.

Public urged to assist with investigation

Authorities are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has relevant information to contact the JFK Memorial Highway Barrack at 410-537-1150 or reach out to Senior Trooper Gregory Bunger via email.
