Rhinebeck, NY – A suspected burglar was caught red-handed inside a Rhinebeck gas station early Sunday morning after deputies on patrol responded to an activated security alarm and interrupted the crime in progress.

The incident unfolded at approximately 2:18 a.m. at the Shell Gas Station located at 3904 Route 9G, where Dutchess County Sheriff’s deputies arrived to find an active break-in underway. The suspect was taken into custody at the scene without resistance.

Detectives later arrived to process evidence and begin a full investigation. Officials have not yet released the identity of the suspect or the nature of the items targeted in the burglary.

No injuries were reported, and authorities credit the rapid patrol response for preventing further loss or damage at the business. The case remains under investigation and further details may be shared in the coming days.
