Wilkes-Barre man arrested for strangulation and assault during domestic dispute

Wilkes-Barre, PA – A 43-year-old man was arrested early Tuesday morning after allegedly strangling and biting a woman during a domestic dispute at a residence on Pershing Street, according to police.

Officers were dispatched to the home at approximately 12:52 a.m. on August 19 following a report of a domestic incident. Upon arrival, they were met by the 35-year-old female victim, who stated she had been in a verbal argument with Edward Bien-Aime, the defendant, regarding a family member staying at the residence.

During the argument, Bien-Aime allegedly placed his hands around the woman’s neck, restricting her ability to breathe. She also told officers that he bit her during the assault.

Bien-Aime, of Wilkes-Barre, was taken into custody at the scene and transported to City Headquarters for processing and arraignment. The investigation remains active.
