Wilkes-Barre man accused of choking woman during domestic fight captured after trying to flee arrest
WILKES-BARRE, PA – A 31-year-old man allegedly punched and strangled a woman during a violent domestic altercation Monday evening, then ran from police before being captured trying to escape through the back door of a home just blocks away.
Officers were dispatched to a home on West Ross Street at around 6:13 p.m. after a report of a domestic dispute. When they arrived, they were met by a 24-year-old woman who told officers that a verbal argument with Lee Tucker had quickly turned violent. She said Tucker struck her multiple times with a closed fist, shoved her to the ground, and then placed both hands around her neck—making it impossible for her to breathe.
The victim told police that Tucker fled the residence before officers arrived. An arrest warrant was quickly issued, and law enforcement tracked him to a home on Pine Street. As officers attempted to take him into custody, Tucker allegedly tried to escape through a rear exit but was intercepted by officers at the scene.
He was taken into custody without further incident and transported to City Headquarters for booking and arraignment. Charges include assault and strangulation in connection with the alleged attack.
There were no immediate updates regarding the condition of the victim or any prior history of domestic-related incidents between the parties.
Police have not released any additional details about Tucker’s arraignment or whether he remains in custody.
