Scooter crash in College Park leaves rider dead police investigating

College Park, MD – A man was killed Tuesday afternoon after losing control of a scooter and striking a median in College Park, according to Prince George’s County Police.

The crash happened around 2:25 p.m. near University Boulevard and Baltimore Avenue. Investigators said the scooter was heading westbound on University Boulevard when, for reasons still under investigation, the rider lost control and hit the center median.

The operator was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His identity will be released once next of kin are notified.

Detectives with the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit are handling the investigation.
