White House letter to Colts Neck superintendent highlights administration’s stance on women’s sports

COLTS NECK, NJ – A letter from the White House addressed to MaryJane Garibay, superintendent of the Colts Neck Township Schools, has drawn attention for its firm stance on women’s athletics and the federal government’s approach to Title IX enforcement.

Dated September 22, the correspondence thanks Garibay for sharing her views on women’s sports and outlines the administration’s position on ensuring that only biological females compete in women’s athletic categories.

The President wrote that one of his first actions after taking office was to sign an Executive Order reaffirming that policy, describing it as a measure to restore fairness, safety, and opportunity for female athletes.

Title IX enforcement and funding conditions

The letter states that the administration is fully enforcing Title IX “as it was originally written,” warning that any school, college, or athletic association failing to comply could lose access to federal funding. It also references a July order aimed at preserving and expanding athletic scholarships and roster opportunities for female student-athletes, including those in Olympic and non-revenue sports.

“Fair and safe” competition emphasized

In the message, the President said that under his leadership, women can once again “compete in fair and safe sports, earn scholarships based on merit, break records without fear of erasure, and pursue excellence with confidence.” The letter further pledges to “defend the integrity of women’s sports” and “protect opportunities for women and girls to achieve the American Dream.”
