Middletown Township, PA – A late-night crash in an active construction zone near Neshaminy High School left one person seriously injured and led to the arrest of the driver who fled the scene.
Police responded around 10:10 p.m. Wednesday to a report of a vehicle accident on southbound Route 1.
Officers found a Subaru Impreza that had rear-ended an unoccupied tanker truck being used in overnight construction work.
One passenger suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was taken for treatment, police said.
Driver located after fleeing crash scene
Investigators said the driver ran from the crash site but was later found and taken into custody by Middletown Township officers. No construction workers were hurt.
Police said the impact caused heavy damage to the Subaru, which came to rest within the construction zone. The driver’s name has not yet been released.
