BENSALEM, PA – A 70-year-old woman was discovered dead inside her Bensalem home Saturday afternoon, prompting police to launch a suspicious death investigation.

Officers arrived at the 5000 block of Hunters Court South after a request for a well-being check.

Inside, they found the body of Cynthia Bouffard, who appeared emaciated and had been deceased for some time.

Police, prosecutors probing death

Detectives from Bensalem Police responded to the scene alongside the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office and the Bucks County Coroner’s Office. Investigators said the woman’s condition suggested she had been deceased for an extended period before being found.

Her body was transported to the Bucks County Coroner’s Office, where a forensic pathologist is scheduled to perform an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death.

Authorities awaiting autopsy results

Officials confirmed that the investigation remains active and that the case is being treated as suspicious pending the results of the autopsy.

District Attorney Jennifer Schorn said additional information will be released once medical findings are complete.
