ALEXANDRIA, VA – A 26-year-old man is in custody after a fatal shooting late Saturday night on Berkeley Street that police say stemmed from a domestic dispute.
Detectives identified the suspect as Damontie James of Alexandria.
The victim, 29-year-old Kory Anding, was found dead inside an apartment when officers arrived.

Police respond to reports of shots fired
According to the Alexandria Police Department, officers were dispatched to 3450 Berkeley Street after receiving calls about gunfire. Upon entering the residence, officers found Anding deceased. Investigators say the shooting occurred after James became involved in an altercation related to his sister.
Charges filed after suspect detained at scene
James remained at the scene and was immediately detained without further incident. Police charged him with second-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. He was later transported to a local detention facility, where he remains in custody pending court proceedings.
Investigation continues
