Stafford man punches clerk over cigars in violent 7-Eleven robbery

STAFFORD, VA – A chaotic scene unfolded Friday evening at a 7-Eleven on Deacon Road after a man attacked a store clerk and fled with a stolen drink, leading to his arrest just steps from the crime scene.

Around 6:00 p.m., a man entered the 7-Eleven located at 327 Deacon Road and placed a drink on the counter as if intending to pay. Instead, he walked out of the store empty-handed. Minutes later, he returned and tried to force his way behind the counter to grab a pack of Black & Mild cigars. When a clerk intervened and ordered him to leave, the man briefly exited—then charged back in and struck the clerk in the torso.

He then grabbed the original drink from the counter and walked out without paying.

Deputies from the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office quickly arrived on the scene and found the suspect outside the store. He was identified as 26-year-old Khari Hunter of Stafford and taken into custody without further incident.

Hunter was charged with robbery and is currently being held on a secure bond. The victim’s injuries were not reported to be serious, and the case remains under investigation.
