Dream leads Maryland brothers to $500K Pick 5 Lottery win in midday drawing

CLARKSBURG, MD – A pair of brothers from Western Maryland are celebrating a $500,000 lottery windfall after one of them dreamed the exact numbers that would hit in the Maryland Lottery’s October 29 midday Pick 5 drawing.

The winning number—13605—held no personal meaning for either brother, except that it appeared vividly in a dream. Acting on instinct, the younger brother, a Hagerstown resident, purchased ten $1 straight bet tickets with that number at the Liberty gas station located at 23300 Clarksburg Road just before noon on the day of the draw.

Less than an hour later, those exact numbers were drawn. The ten identical tickets split the $500,000 win evenly, awarding $250,000 to each brother. The older sibling, who lives in Frederick, had agreed to go in on the bet after the two discussed the dream that morning.

This wasn’t the younger brother’s first brush with dream-fueled lottery success. He recalled an early win decades ago when he played his license plate digits—149—after a cousin pointed out it kept appearing in draws. That initial win led to a lifelong habit of playing Maryland Lottery’s daily games like Pick 3, Pick 4, and Pick 5, as well as Racetrax and Keno.

The two brothers, one retired and the other approaching retirement, say the money will go into savings. The Clarksburg gas station that sold the winning tickets will also receive a $5,000 bonus from the Maryland Lottery.
