Accokeek man hits $150K Powerball win after post-gym stop at Keller’s Market
ACOKEKEK, MD – A trip home from the gym turned into a six-figure windfall for a Prince George’s County man, who discovered a Powerball ticket he purchased weeks earlier had won him $150,012 in the October 18 drawing.
The retired federal employee stopped at Keller’s Market on Livingston Road in Accokeek on October 16 and picked up his usual mix of Powerball and Mega Millions tickets. He added both Power Play and Double Play options to his $20 Powerball ticket.
Weeks later, while watching television at home, he decided to scan his stack of tickets using the Maryland Lottery app. After collecting a few small wins, one ticket triggered a surprising result: it matched four white balls and the red Powerball on one line, winning $50,000. On another line, the ticket matched just the Powerball, adding another $4.
Because the Power Play multiplier for that drawing was 3x, the total prize climbed to $150,012. The Double Play option did not produce any additional winnings.
The player, along with his wife, visited Lottery Headquarters in Baltimore on November 5 to claim the prize. They opted to keep the news within the family and plan to save most of the money, with some set aside for the holiday season.
The ticket was sold at Keller’s Market, which remains a popular local stop for lottery players in the Accokeek area.
