Man bashed with chair in late-night Southeast DC assault as cops hunt suspect

Washington, DC — A man was hospitalized after a late-night assault on Pennsylvania Avenue last month, where a suspect allegedly struck him with a chair before fleeing into the night, prompting an ongoing manhunt by the Metropolitan Police Department.

The attack happened just after 1 a.m. on Thursday, October 23, in the 300 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, Southeast. Investigators say the suspect approached the victim and suddenly launched the assault using a chair as a weapon. After the blow, the suspect ran from the scene.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. His current condition has not been disclosed.

Surveillance cameras in the area captured images of the suspect. Police released the footage on Thursday and are urging the public to help identify the person seen.

The department is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individual responsible for the violent assault.
