Elderly man assaulted on Brooklyn bus after dispute turns violent

BROOKLYN, NY – A 71-year-old man was hospitalized Friday evening after being punched in the face during a confrontation on a city bus in Crown Heights, police said.

The assault occurred around 5:30 p.m. aboard a northbound B46 bus as it approached Union Street and Utica Avenue.

According to police, the suspect began arguing with the victim before striking him, causing the man to fall forward and hit his head on a pole.

The attacker quickly exited the bus and fled north on Utica Avenue, leaving passengers stunned as emergency responders were called to the scene.

The victim was taken by EMS to NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County, where he was listed in stable condition.

Police release description of suspect

Investigators are searching for the suspect, described as a female who was last seen wearing a blue head scarf, red jacket, black pants, and black and red sneakers.

The NYPD is reviewing surveillance video from the bus and nearby intersections to identify the woman involved.

Detectives are also interviewing witnesses and coordinating with the MTA to track the suspect’s movements after she exited the vehicle.
