NEW YORK, N.Y. – Police are asking for the public’s help identifying a gunman who allegedly opened fire on a group of people outside a Manhattan Avenue building in Harlem.

The shooting happened at approximately 5:20 p.m. Aug. 4 in front of 400 Manhattan Avenue, within the NYPD’s 28th Precinct. Despite multiple shots being fired, police said nobody was injured.

Multiple Shots Fired at Group in Harlem

According to NYPD Crime Stoppers, the unidentified suspect approached the area outside 400 Manhattan Avenue and discharged a firearm multiple times at a group.

Police have not disclosed how many people were in the group or how many rounds were fired.

No one was struck.

The department also has not said what may have led to the gunfire or whether investigators believe the suspect knew any of the people he allegedly targeted.

After firing the shots, “the individual then fled westbound on West 117 Street to parts unknown,” NYPD Crime Stoppers said.

NYPD Seeks Public’s Help Finding Gunman

The incident is being investigated as an attempted assault.

Police have not announced an arrest or publicly identified the suspect.

The NYPD’s appeal comes more than a month after the shooting as investigators continue trying to identify and locate the man.
