BRONX, N.Y. – A man was shot in the leg Sunday morning after confronting an intruder who was allegedly trying to steal work supplies from a residential building in the Bronx, according to the NYPD.
The confrontation happened at about 11:30 a.m. inside 508 East 163rd Street in the 42nd Precinct. Police said the 47-year-old victim discovered an unidentified person inside an area restricted to authorized personnel.

According to NYPD Crime Stoppers, the victim encountered the suspect in an “authorized-personnel-only area” of the residential building.
The suspect then allegedly tried to leave with work supplies.
When the 47-year-old confronted him, “a physical altercation ensued,” police said.
Investigators said the suspect then displayed a firearm and discharged it, striking the victim in his leg.
The gunman fled the building on foot and disappeared.
Police have not identified the victim or disclosed what type of work supplies were allegedly being taken. The department’s initial account also did not specify how many shots were fired or whether investigators recovered a weapon.
NYPD Searching for Bronx Robbery Suspect
EMS responded to the building and transported the wounded man to NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln.
He was listed in stable condition.
The NYPD released images connected to the investigation Sunday as detectives worked to identify and locate the suspect.
Police have classified the incident as a robbery investigation.
No arrest had been announced in the department’s appeal, and investigators did not provide additional information about the suspect’s identity or possible relationship to the building.
