Five arrested in armed carjacking case after Foxtrot chopper tracks stolen vehicle to Northeast Baltimore

BALTIMORE, MD – A stolen vehicle taken during an armed carjacking in Baltimore’s Southeast District led to five arrests Saturday night after police tracked the vehicle using aviation support and recovered a handgun discarded during the suspects’ attempted escape.

Just after 8 p.m. on November 22, members of the Regional Auto Theft Taskforce, assisted by Foxtrot, the department’s aviation unit, located the carjacked vehicle in the 1700 block of Mountpelier Street. As investigators closed in, the five occupants bailed out and fled on foot.

Following a short pursuit, all five suspects—two 17-year-old males, two 18-year-old males, and one 19-year-old male—were apprehended. During the chase, officers recovered a handgun that had been tossed by the 17-year-old who was behind the wheel.

The 17-year-old driver, the 17-year-old passenger, and the three adult suspects were all charged with multiple counts of auto theft. The adult suspects and the juvenile driver were transported to the Central Booking Intake Facility, while the 17-year-old passenger was taken to the Juvenile Justice Center.
