‘We’re rich’ screams Ohio couple after $500K Cashword scratch-off win in Antwerp
ANTWERP, OH – A Paulding County woman says she had a feeling she just couldn’t shake — a strong urge to buy lottery tickets. That instinct led her to the Antwerp Pit Stop, and hours later, she and her husband were screaming in disbelief after discovering she had won a $500,000 top prize on a Cashword scratch-off.
She bought five $10 Cashword tickets from the store on West River Street and took them home. When she scratched the first one, she noticed it looked different. “Something ain’t right,” she told herself. She handed the ticket to her husband and asked him to scan it using the Ohio Lottery app.
After scanning the ticket, he stood up, grabbed her, and shouted, “We’re rich! We’re rich! We just won half a million dollars!” She responded, “I can’t believe it!” Still in shock, she said she had always believed a big win was coming her way one day and now feels her prayers were answered.
After federal and state tax withholding of 27.125%, the winner will take home $364,375. She plans to use the money to pay off their house and purchase a new vehicle.
The $500,000 Cashword game offers an overall winning odds of 1 in 3.69. As of November 19, four top prizes remain unclaimed.
