Body found after fire extinguished behind West Lanvale Street building sparks suspicious death investigation
Baltimore, MD – A man was found dead Monday night after firefighters responding to a blaze behind a building in the 1000 block of West Lanvale Street discovered his remains once the fire was extinguished, according to Baltimore Police.
Officers from the Western District were called to the scene at approximately 8:28 p.m. on November 24 at the request of the Baltimore Fire Department. Fire personnel had extinguished a fire in the rear of the property and discovered the deceased adult male during their response.
The man’s remains were transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office, where officials will work to determine his identity and the exact cause of death. Police have labeled the case a suspicious death pending further investigation.
