Charlottesville man killed in Monacan Trail Road crash after being ejected from vehicle

North Garden, VA – A 31-year-old Charlottesville man was killed Monday morning after being ejected from a vehicle during a single-car crash on Monacan Trail Road in Albemarle County, police confirmed in an update Tuesday.

The crash occurred around 11:38 a.m. on November 24 near Rural Ridge Lane in the North Garden area. Albemarle County Police and Fire Rescue responded and located a vehicle that had left the roadway. One occupant, identified as Cole R. Peale-Grody, was found outside the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene despite life-saving efforts.

According to police, Peale-Grody was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. A passenger in the vehicle was transported to UVA Medical Center with injuries described as non-life-threatening.

The Albemarle County Police Department’s Crash Reconstruction Team is continuing to investigate the cause of the collision. No additional details about the vehicle’s movement or contributing factors have been released.

Authorities initially withheld the victim’s identity pending notification of next of kin. Peale-Grody’s death marks a continuing concern for road safety in the area.
