Ocean County man jailed on aggravated assault charge in domestic case

TOMS RIVER, NJ – A man identified as Batuhan Ozturk was taken into custody Sunday in Ocean County and charged with aggravated assault for allegedly strangling a domestic violence victim.

The charge, classified as a second-degree offense, accuses Ozturk of strangling or attempting to strangle a victim in a domestic violence incident. Under state law, the offense carries severe penalties and is treated as a serious act of violence.

Records show no aliases, detainers, or additional charges associated with Ozturk at the time of booking.

No bail set as case remains open
Ozturk’s bond was recorded as zero dollars, with the case marked “open” in court records. The Ocean County Department of Corrections noted that release eligibility will depend on his pretrial hearing, which has not yet been scheduled.

Officials have not released details on the circumstances leading to the arrest or the identity of the victim. The case remains active in the Ocean County court system pending further hearings.
