PHILADELPHIA, PA – A 34-year-old man who was critically wounded in a shooting inside a Southwest Philadelphia home Friday afternoon has died from his injuries.
Police said the shooting occurred around 3:18 p.m. inside a residence on the 2600 block of Muhfeld Street in the 12th District.
The victim was shot once in the abdomen and rushed by police to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center.
He was pronounced dead at 5:04 p.m., according to the Philadelphia Police Department.
Homicide detectives take over investigation
The case, initially handled by the department’s Shooting Investigation Group, has now been transferred to the Homicide Unit for further investigation.
Authorities have not released the victim’s name pending family notification. A motive remains unclear, and no arrests have been made.
Police seek information from the public
Detectives are canvassing the area for witnesses and reviewing nearby surveillance footage in an effort to identify the suspect.
