Pedestrian hospitalized after being struck on Baltimore Street in Cumberland

CUMBERLAND, MD – Emergency crews responded Saturday night to a crash in downtown Cumberland after a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Baltimore and Mechanic Streets.

Police and firefighters arrived to find the injured pedestrian receiving aid from EMS personnel at the scene.

The victim was transported by Cumberland Fire Department medics to UPMC for further evaluation.

Authorities confirmed that the Cumberland Police Department is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.

Crash under active investigation

The area around Baltimore Street and Mechanic Street was temporarily restricted while first responders assisted the victim and cleared the scene. Police have not released the pedestrian’s condition or any details about the driver involved.

Investigators are reviewing witness statements and nearby surveillance footage to determine what led to the incident.
