LANDOVER, Md. – The Prince George’s County Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting late Monday night inside an adult entertainment business that left one man dead after an altercation involving several patrons.

Police identified the deceased as 50-year-old Donald Wayne Hunt of Waldorf.

Officers responded to the 5300 block of Sheriff Road around 11:50 p.m. on December 8, where they found Hunt inside the establishment suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Security guard fired fatal shot during altercation

According to preliminary findings, Hunt was involved in a physical fight with multiple individuals when a private armed security guard was alerted to the disturbance. During his attempt to intervene, the guard discharged his weapon, striking Hunt.

Investigators said a second firearm, not belonging to the security guard, was recovered at the scene.

Investigation ongoing, no charges filed

Detectives with the Homicide Unit are working to determine the full sequence of events leading up to the shooting. They are interviewing witnesses, reviewing surveillance footage, and consulting with the Prince George’s County State’s Attorney’s Office to determine whether criminal charges will be filed.
