Teen wounded in Ridgewood Avenue shooting

18-year-old shot in hand on Ridgewood Avenue as person of interest detained

Baltimore, MD – An 18-year-old male was shot in the hand Tuesday night in Northwest Baltimore, and police say a person of interest was taken into custody at the scene.

Northwest District officers responded to the 3000 block of Ridgewood Avenue around 7:42 p.m. for reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, officers located the teenage victim with a gunshot wound to his hand. He was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. His condition has not been publicly disclosed but the injury is believed to be non-life-threatening.

During the initial response, officers detained a person of interest in connection with the shooting. Officials have not released the individual’s name or confirmed whether any charges have been filed.

Detectives from the Northwest District are continuing the investigation and are working to determine the circumstances that led to the shooting.

Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact investigators or submit anonymous tips via Metro Crime Stoppers.
