Unidentified man fatally shot in Northern District after ShotSpotter alert
Baltimore, MD – A man was shot and killed Thursday night in Northeast Baltimore after police responded to a ShotSpotter alert, launching a homicide investigation into the city’s latest deadly shooting.
At approximately 8:20 p.m. on December 12, Northern District officers were dispatched to the 500 block of E. 26th Street after the city’s gunshot detection system flagged possible gunfire in the area. Upon arrival, officers located an unidentified male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Police began life-saving efforts at the scene before the victim was transported to a nearby hospital. Despite medical intervention, he was later pronounced dead.
Authorities have not released a description of the suspect or any potential motive. The identity of the victim is pending notification of next of kin.
Homicide detectives have taken over the case and are asking for anyone with information to come forward or submit tips anonymously.
