Stafford man charged with DUI after rear-ending vehicle on Richmond Highway

STAFFORD, VA — A Stafford man is facing DUI charges after crashing into the back of another vehicle Monday evening on Richmond Highway, authorities said.

The crash occurred around 5:24 p.m. near the intersection of Hope Road and Richmond Highway. Responding to the scene, Deputy J. W. Courtney observed the at-fault driver showing signs of intoxication, including bloodshot, glassy eyes and a strong odor of alcohol.

The driver was identified as Anana Wankenge, 57, of Stafford. After further investigation, he was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and following too closely.

Wankenge was booked at the Rappahannock Regional Jail and is being held on a secured bond.

The incident was part of the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office Daily Incident Report for Monday.
