DELMAR, DE – A 24-year-old Delmar man was killed Friday evening after his pickup truck crashed and overturned several times along Bacons Road, according to Delaware State Police.
The crash occurred around 6:30 p.m. as the man was driving a Toyota Tundra westbound on Bacons Road, just west of Bi State Boulevard. Investigators said the truck failed to navigate a left-hand curve, veered off the north side of the road, struck a utility pole, and rolled multiple times before coming to a stop.
Troopers said the driver was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities are withholding his identity until next of kin are notified.
Bacons Road remained closed for about seven hours while members of the Delaware State Police Troop 7 Collision Reconstruction Unit investigated and utility crews replaced the damaged pole.
