Essex County resident bags $150K on holiday draw

Newark shopper hits $150K Jersey Cash 5 jackpot on Christmas Eve ticket

Newark, NJ – Thursday — A routine stop at a neighborhood supermarket turned into a six-figure holiday miracle for one Essex County player, who matched all five numbers in Wednesday’s Jersey Cash 5 drawing to claim a $150,000 jackpot on Christmas Eve.

The winning ticket, sold at Bravo Supermarket at 260 Roseville Avenue in Newark, marked the 66th Jersey Cash 5 jackpot win of the year and the second in as many days. The lucky player matched the numbers 06, 08, 10, 11, and 14. The Bullseye number was 11 and the XTRA multiplier was 02. Bravo Supermarket will receive a $2,000 retailer bonus for selling the ticket.

In addition to the grand prize, 45 other players won $500 each by matching four numbers and the Bullseye. Of those winners, 20 doubled their payout to $1,000 by playing the XTRA feature.

Due to the Christmas holiday, there was no Jersey Cash 5 drawing on Thursday. The game resumes Friday with a new $150,000 jackpot on the line, continuing the streak of strong holiday play across New Jersey.

Drawings for most New Jersey Lottery games were paused Thursday, with only Cash 4 Life continuing as scheduled. Regular draws resume Friday.
