BOSTON, MA – A Hyde Park man was arrested early Friday after Boston police responded to a reported burglary in progress along Washington Street in Jamaica Plain, authorities said.
Officers assigned to District E-13 were dispatched around 12:52 a.m. to 3531 Washington Street following reports that a suspect had entered through the front door of a building and was later seen on security cameras exiting out the rear. Boston Police Operations broadcast a description of the suspect to responding units as officers converged on the area.
When officers arrived, they began clearing the building and canvassing nearby streets. During the search, police located a discarded surgical mask and black latex gloves near a trash barrel outside the property, according to the Boston Police Department.
A short time later, officers observed a man matching the suspect’s description in front of 3611 Washington Street. He was taken into custody without incident.
Arrest made minutes after burglary report
Police identified the suspect as Jorge Montenegro Jr., 37, of Hyde Park. He is expected to be arraigned in West Roxbury District Court on charges of unarmed burglary and larceny from a building.
