Shore Drive crash claims life of 62 year old Virginia Beach man
Virginia Beach, VA – A two vehicle crash on Shore Drive last week has claimed the life of a 62-year-old Virginia Beach man who later died at the hospital from his injuries, police said.
Emergency Communications received a report of the crash at approximately 6:00 p.m. February 13 in the 5500 block of Shore Drive. Officers and Virginia Beach Fire personnel located both drivers at the scene.
The driver of one vehicle was transported to a local hospital with non life threatening injuries. The second driver, identified as Ronald Lockamy Jr., 62, of Virginia Beach, was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
On February 14, Lockamy died from his injuries while hospitalized.
A preliminary investigation determined Lockamy was traveling east on Shore Drive when the other driver proceeded into his traffic lane. Lockamy’s vehicle struck the left side of the other vehicle.
The crash remains under investigation by the Virginia Beach Police Department Traffic Safety Unit.
