Middle River woman strikes lottery gold twice in just three months

Middle River, MD – A Baltimore County woman is defying the odds after winning her second $50,000 Maryland Lottery prize in less than three months, both times playing the same game at the same store.

The lucky Middle River resident took home her most recent Bonus Match 5 top prize from the February 15 drawing, marking her second $50,000 jackpot since December. Both winning tickets were purchased at the Compass Beer Pump, located at 3 Compass Road in Middle River.

She told lottery officials that she relies on intuition when choosing numbers. Sometimes, she said, she gets a strong feeling about certain combinations — and when that happens, she buys tickets. “I see things a lot of folks can’t see,” she explained during her visit to lottery headquarters in Baltimore, where she claimed her latest prize on February 18.

Defying the odds twice

In Bonus Match 5, players have a 1 in 575,757 chance of matching all five numbers for the $50,000 top prize. While she acknowledged that her process isn’t scientific, the repeated success has strengthened her belief that she has a special knack for picking numbers.

The two-time winner said her lottery windfalls have helped her support her adult children during tough times and pay down her mortgage. The retailer where she bought both winning tickets earned $500 bonuses for each sale.

Despite her back-to-back big wins, she hinted that she might try a different game next time but added she isn’t walking away from playing altogether.

“You can’t win if you don’t play,” she said with a laugh.
