Masked suspects caught on camera in attempted armed robbery at Maryland mall

BETHESDA, Md. — Police are asking for the public’s help identifying two suspects accused of attempting an armed robbery in a mall parking lot in Montgomery County.

The incident happened around 8 p.m. on December 23, 2025, in the AMC Theater parking lot at Montgomery Mall on Democracy Boulevard.

Investigators said the two suspects approached two men who were getting into a Toyota Corolla.

One of the suspects was armed with a handgun equipped with a green laser and attempted to rob one of the victims of his sneakers at gunpoint.

Police said the robbery was interrupted when one of the victims called 911, prompting the suspects to flee the scene.

Detectives released surveillance images of the suspects, who were both described as Hispanic males.

One suspect was wearing a black mask, a black Moose Knuckles jacket with white fur trim and blue jeans. The second suspect was also wearing a black Moose Knuckles jacket with white fur trim and black pants.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Montgomery County Police or submit tips through Crime Solvers of Montgomery County. Tips may be eligible for a reward.
