Multiple charges filed after separate encounters across Cumberland on Wednesday evening.

Cumberland, MD – A series of unrelated incidents across Cumberland on Wednesday led to one summons and two arrests, according to a press release issued Thursday by the Cumberland Police Department. The cases involve charges ranging from false imprisonment to probation violations and disorderly conduct, stemming from events that unfolded throughout the day and into the evening.

The department confirmed that all three individuals are Cumberland residents and were taken into custody or served legal action in connection with separate investigations or officer responses on April 1.

False imprisonment summons issued

On Wednesday, April 1, the Cumberland Police Department served a criminal summons on Leonard Lee Bridges, 50, of Cumberland. The summons followed a filing by a private citizen at the District Court of Allegany County.

According to the department, “The summons was issued as a result of a private citizen filing for charges against Bridges at the District Court of Allegany County,” said Cumberland Police Department. Bridges was released pending trial. He faces a charge of false imprisonment.

Probation violation leads to arrest and drug citation

Also on Wednesday, officers served a Circuit Court bench warrant on Jesse James Wilkinson, 33, of Cumberland. The warrant was issued after Wilkinson violated probation tied to an original charge of first-degree burglary.

Police said, “The warrant was issued as a result of Wilkinson violating probation on an original charge of Burglary-1st Degree,” said Cumberland Police Department. During the arrest, officers found Wilkinson in possession of drug paraphernalia.

Wilkinson was transported to the Allegany County Detention Center, where he is being held without bond pending a court appearance. He was also issued a criminal citation for possession of drug paraphernalia.

Evening disturbance leads to disorderly conduct arrest

Later that evening, at approximately 7:10 p.m., officers responded to a reported disturbance at the intersection of Baltimore Street and Queen City Drive. Upon arrival, police observed multiple individuals arguing in the roadway.

One individual, identified as Alan Kareem Young, 43, continued to yell and refused to comply with officers’ orders. “Young refused to listen to the officers’ orders and continued to yell and create a disturbance,” said Cumberland Police Department.

Young was arrested at the scene and transported to Central Booking. He is currently awaiting his initial court appearance and faces charges of intoxicated public disturbance and disorderly conduct.
