Massive cache of illicit files uncovered in South Jersey home as man charged
Woodbury, NJ — A South Jersey man is facing criminal charges after investigators uncovered tens of thousands of illegal files on electronic devices seized from his home.
Paul E. Blight, 52, of Williamstown, was arrested and charged with second-degree possession of child sexual abuse material following an investigation by the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office.
Authorities said the case began with a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children regarding uploads of suspected illegal material. That tip led investigators to execute a search warrant at Blight’s residence.
During the search, officials recovered multiple electronic devices believed to belong to Blight. A forensic analysis later determined the devices contained 33,956 images and 1,018 videos of child sexual abuse material.
Blight was arrested Thursday and released on a complaint summons. He is scheduled to appear in court on May 21.
If convicted, he faces up to 10 years in state prison.
Officials said the investigation involved the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office High Tech Crimes Unit, with assistance from the Monroe Township Police Department and the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office Tactical Operations Team.
The charges are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
