Closet capture ends manhunt as three suspects arrested in Dorchester shooting case
Boston, MA — A suspect wanted in connection with a Dorchester shooting was found hiding in a closet after a foot chase, marking the latest arrest in a case that has now led to three people facing charges.
The arrest happened around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday when members of the Youth Violence Strike Force tracked a suspect with multiple outstanding warrants near Dudley Street and Mount Pleasant Avenue.
Police said the suspect, later identified as 19-year-old Lashawn Scott of Boston, fled on foot after exiting a vehicle and ran through several streets before entering a residence on Wakullah Street.
Officers followed and conducted a sweep of the apartment, where Scott was found hiding in a closet and taken into custody.
Scott was wanted on multiple charges, including armed assault to rob, possession of a large capacity firearm, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, and assault and battery with a firearm.
The arrest is part of an ongoing investigation into a March 7 shooting on Quincy Street, where an adult male was shot and transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police previously arrested two additional suspects in the case. Julian Cardoso, 19, of Dorchester, and Tyler Powell, 18, of Quincy, were both taken into custody April 1 on warrants tied to the shooting.
During the investigation, officers recovered a Glock 45 handgun with a round in the chamber and a large capacity magazine containing 12 rounds.
All three suspects have been arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
