Officers first encountered the case when a citizen transported an injured person to the department’s Second Precinct. Police and medics provided immediate aid before that victim was taken to a local hospital for further treatment.

While officers were still at the precinct, new information led them to a residence in the 600 block of Edinburg Avenue. There, they found an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound.
He was pronounced dead at the scene, confirming the incident had escalated into a homicide investigation.
