Woman charged after funds vanish from community sports club
Pasadena, MD – A volunteer treasurer for a youth athletic organization is now facing felony charges after investigators say she carried out a years-long scheme to divert hundreds of thousands of dollars for personal use.
Kelley Ann Haley, 45, of Pasadena, was charged following an investigation by the Anne Arundel County Police Department’s Financial Crimes Unit into missing funds tied to the Pasadena Buccaneers Athletic Club.
The probe began on March 21, 2025, after the club’s president reported suspected financial irregularities, including altered records and hidden debts within the organization’s accounts.
Detectives determined that between January 2019 and March 2025, Haley allegedly used club-issued debit cards to make unauthorized purchases and withdrawals for personal gain.
Investigators said the activity involved hundreds of transactions, including ATM withdrawals, totaling more than $242,500.
Authorities allege Haley manipulated accounting records to conceal the activity and misrepresent the club’s financial condition.
On April 28, 2026, she was charged via criminal summons with theft scheme over $100,000, theft over $100,000, and two counts of embezzlement and misappropriation of funds.
The Pasadena Buccaneers Athletic Club is a volunteer-driven organization focused on youth sports and mentorship in the community.
The charges are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
