PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — Two men suffered gunshot wounds in separate shootings across Philadelphia late Friday night, including a domestic dispute in the city’s 35th District and an ambush-style shooting near Girard Avenue, according to the Philadelphia Police Department.

The first shooting unfolded around 10:45 p.m. on the 5000 block of North 12th Street, where investigators said a physical altercation between a couple escalated into gunfire. About an hour later, officers responding to reports of shots fired near Carlisle and Poplar streets found a 21-year-old man wounded outside a store near Carlisle Street and Girard Avenue.

Both victims survived and were transported to local hospitals for treatment.

Domestic dispute escalates into gunfire

Philadelphia police said the earlier shooting stemmed from a domestic confrontation inside a residence in the city’s 35th District.

Investigators determined a 39-year-old woman shot her 46-year-old boyfriend during the struggle. The man suffered a gunshot wound to the thigh along with a graze wound to his stomach, police said.

The woman also sustained injuries during the altercation, including bruising, swelling to the head, and a hemorrhage to her left eye. Both were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Police have not announced whether charges have been filed or if the woman remains in custody as detectives continue investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

The Philadelphia Police Department has not released additional details about what led to the confrontation inside the home.

Gunman opens fire near Girard Avenue

In the second incident, officers from the Philadelphia Police Department’s 22nd District responded shortly before midnight to reports of gunfire near Carlisle and Poplar streets.

When officers arrived, they found a 21-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to his left leg. He was transported to Temple University Hospital and listed in stable condition.

According to preliminary findings from the department’s Shooting Investigation Group, the victim had been standing outside a store at Carlisle Street and Girard Avenue when a man approached him on foot.

Investigators described the suspect as a man with dreadlocks dressed entirely in black clothing. Police said the suspect pulled out a firearm and advanced toward the victim, who attempted to run away.

The suspect then fired a single shot, striking the victim in the leg before fleeing the area in a Hyundai Elantra, according to investigators.

No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting.

Detectives continue active investigations

The Philadelphia Police Department’s Shooting Investigation Group continues to investigate both incidents as detectives work to determine the circumstances that led to each shooting.

Officials have not said whether the shootings are connected, and no additional suspect information has been released beyond the description provided in the Girard Avenue case.

The department also has not identified either victim publicly.
