Capitol Heights Murder Suspect Arrested in DC Months After Fatal Shooting of 19-Year-Old Waldorf Man

Capitol Heights, MD — A 20-year-old murder suspect wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of a Waldorf man in Capitol Heights is now in custody after being arrested during an unrelated stop in Washington, D.C., according to Prince George’s County Police.

Roland Andre Carter Jr., who police said has no fixed address, is charged in the killing of 19-year-old Ky-Mari Bowman of Waldorf. The arrest marks a significant development in a homicide investigation that began nearly four months ago.

Victim Found Shot Outside Abel Avenue Location

According to the Prince George’s County Police Department, officers responded at approximately 3:20 p.m. on February 4 to the 500 block of Abel Avenue for a reported shooting.

When officers arrived, they found Bowman outside suffering from gunshot wounds.

He was transported to a hospital, where he died a short time later, police said.

Detectives Identified Suspect Through Investigation

Prince George’s County Police Homicide Unit detectives used what the department described as “various investigative techniques” to identify Carter as the suspect.

Investigators subsequently obtained an arrest warrant charging him in connection with the killing.

On Wednesday, officers with the United States Park Police arrested Carter in Washington, D.C., during an unrelated stop.

Police said he remains in custody in the District of Columbia pending extradition to Prince George’s County.
