Crowd favorite rolls into safety event as deputies drive home important roadside message
ASHEVILLE, N.C. — The Batmobile helped draw crowds and turn heads at a North Carolina safety event where law enforcement officers promoted a serious message about protecting roadside workers and first responders.
Members of the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office DWI Task Force participated in the Slow Down, Move Over Car Show on May 31 at Asheville Outlets.
The event brought together public safety agencies, vehicle enthusiasts and community members to raise awareness about North Carolina’s Move Over Law, which requires drivers to slow down and move over when approaching emergency vehicles and roadside workers.
One of the biggest attractions of the day was a special guest appearance by the Batmobile, which quickly became a favorite among attendees.
The Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office also had reason to celebrate after earning First Place in the event’s Special Vehicle Category.
Officials thanked everyone who attended, learned more about traffic safety and supported the event’s mission.
The sheriff’s office also congratulated members of its DWI Task Force on the award-winning display.
