New Jersey – Motorists across South Jersey encountered several traffic disruptions Friday evening as crashes and downed utility poles led to lane closures and detours on major roadways. Authorities reported incidents affecting traffic in Burlington, Camden and Warren counties during the busy commuter period.

Drivers traveling on Route 73 southbound in Mount Laurel Township faced delays after a crash south of Interstate 295. As of 7:21 p.m., one of two lanes remained closed while crews worked at the scene.

Just minutes earlier, authorities reported a separate crash on Route 30 westbound in Lawnside. The incident occurred west of the New Jersey Turnpike and resulted in the closure of one of two travel lanes.

Utility pole incidents impact traffic

A more significant disruption remained in place on Route 173 in Greenwich Township. Officials reported a utility pole down in both directions east of Greenwich Church Road, forcing the closure of all lanes as utility crews responded.

In Cherry Hill Township, a downed pole on Route 70 east of Route 41 continued to affect traffic. The incident closed the right lane and shoulder on the eastbound side while one of three westbound lanes was also blocked.

George Washington Bridge truck restrictions remain in effect

Commercial vehicle operators heading toward the George Washington Bridge were advised of ongoing restrictions on the lower-level eastbound crossing. While all travel lanes remained open, trucks exiting at Exit 73 from U.S. Route 46, Route 4 and the I-95 Local Lanes were directed to stay left and use Exit 73 when approaching from the I-95 Express Lanes.

Motorists are encouraged to use caution when traveling through affected areas and expect delays as emergency and utility crews continue operations.
