Social media videos helped police identify a driver accused of reckless behavior before officers tracked him down the next morning
READING, Pa. — A man accused of reckless driving near Reading’s iconic Pagoda was arrested after videos of the incident spread across social media and helped police identify him, authorities said.
The Reading Police Department said videos began circulating online during the evening of June 7 showing a male driver allegedly engaging in reckless and careless driving in the area of the Pagoda.
Officers reviewed the footage and identified the driver as Jean Muniz-Hernandez, 37, of Reading.
On the morning of June 8, members of the department’s Traffic Enforcement Unit located Muniz-Hernandez and attempted to take him into custody.
Police said he was arrested following a brief foot pursuit.
During the arrest, officers also discovered that Muniz-Hernandez had several outstanding warrants.
Authorities said appropriate charges will be filed in connection with the reckless driving incident.
Police did not release additional details regarding the alleged driving behavior or the outstanding warrants.
The investigation remains ongoing.
The charges are allegations, and Muniz-Hernandez is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
