Teen shot in Baltimore as detectives search for answers

A 17-year-old was hospitalized after gunfire erupted in Southeast Baltimore, prompting an active police investigation

BALTIMORE, Md. — A 17-year-old boy is expected to survive after being shot Thursday afternoon in Southeast Baltimore, according to police.

Officers were dispatched at approximately 3:59 p.m. to the 2400 block of Jefferson Street following reports of a shooting.

When officers arrived, they found the teenager suffering from a gunshot wound.

Emergency medical personnel transported the victim to a local hospital, where police said he is expected to survive.

Investigators later identified a crime scene in the 400 block of North Milton Street as part of the ongoing investigation.

Detectives assigned to the Southeast District responded to process evidence and determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

Police have not released information regarding a suspect or a possible motive.

The investigation remains active.
