The Brick Little League Board of Directors says a recent financial issue has been resolved and new oversight measures have been implemented following online allegations and the unauthorized release of internal communications.
Brick Little League Baseball & Softball has issued a public statement addressing a recent financial matter that has generated discussion on social media and local online platforms. That matter allegedly concerned a league outing to the recent Savannah Bananas-themed Banana Ball games in Lakewood.
In a statement released by the Board of Directors, league officials said the matter was reviewed internally and has been resolved without issue, but that the misleading post was made based on internal emails being leaked, which were inquiries about the event.
“Following a review by the Board, the matter has been addressed and resolved,” the organization said.
The damage being done, the board is making changes. At this point, no civil charges have been filed against the page’s operator over the alarming and misleading post.
The board did not provide details on the nature of the financial issue but stated that additional safeguards have been implemented to strengthen oversight and approval procedures going forward.
New Leadership Announced
As part of the transition, Nicole Tortorella has been confirmed as Interim President of Brick Little League.
Tortorella previously served as the league’s First Vice President and has been a longtime elected member of the Board of Directors.
According to the statement, the board voted to appoint her to the position, where she will serve through the remainder of the current term. The announcement follows recent leadership changes within the organization, which oversees youth baseball and softball programs serving families throughout Brick Township.
League Responds to Online Claims
The statement also addressed information that has circulated online regarding the matter.
League officials said unauthorized sharing of internal communications contributed to the publication of incomplete and inaccurate information on the internet.
“We are aware that unauthorized sharing of internal communications has led to incomplete and inaccurate information online, and we encourage families to rely on official league communications,” the board said.
The league did not specifically identify any individual or online outlet referenced in the statement.
Focus on Players and Volunteers
Brick Little League emphasized that its focus remains on serving players, families, coaches, and volunteers.
The organization said new financial oversight procedures have been implemented to help ensure accountability and transparency in league operations.
“We remain committed to transparency and the continued success of our players and volunteers,” the board stated.
Brick Little League is one of Ocean County’s largest youth sports organizations, hosting baseball and softball programs for hundreds of local children each year.
Online many Brick residents supported the decision, but others called for third party investigations and even referral to the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office. At this time, no investigations have been announced.
In recent months, the page has been plagued by lawsuits, criminal complaints, and legal issues over false claims, harassment, and other bizarre issues.
