18 year old Maryland woman killed after running across DC295 in tragic crash

An 18-year-old Maryland woman was fatally struck by an SUV after crossing multiple lanes of DC295 in Southeast DC early Monday, according to investigators.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — An 18-year-old Silver Spring woman was killed after she ran across DC295 and was struck by an SUV in Southeast DC early Monday morning, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.

Officers responded at approximately 3:23 a.m. to the southbound lanes of DC295 just past the East Capitol Street on-ramp for a report of a crash involving a pedestrian.

When officers arrived, they found an adult woman suffering critical injuries in the roadway. DC Fire and EMS responded to the scene and pronounced her dead.

Police identified the victim as 18-year-old Camari Primrose of Silver Spring, Maryland.

According to the preliminary investigation, Primrose exited a vehicle that had stopped in the northbound lanes of DC295. Investigators said she ran across the northbound lanes, crossed the guardrail and entered the southbound lanes, where she was struck by a Ford Escape.

The driver of the Ford Escape remained at the scene, police said.

The Metropolitan Police Department’s Major Crash Investigations Unit is continuing to investigate the fatal collision.
