BALTIMORE, Md. — Baltimore police say officers have seized more than 1,100 firearms across the city so far this year, including several recovered during gun and drug enforcement operations over the past few days.

The Baltimore Police Department said the seizures are part of ongoing efforts to arrest people responsible for violence throughout the city.

In a social media update, the department highlighted firearms recently taken off Baltimore streets during citywide gun and drug investigations. Police did not release details about where the recent seizures occurred or whether any arrests were made.

The department said removing illegal firearms remains a focus of its enforcement efforts aimed at reducing violent crime.

Police are also encouraging residents to report illegal activity in their neighborhoods. Anyone with information can call 911 or Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7LOCKUP. Callers can remain anonymous.
