Police say the victim was shot in the leg after a dispute outside a residence escalated.
NEW KENSINGTON, Pa. — A Natrona Heights man has been charged with attempted homicide after investigators say he shot a man during an argument outside a New Kensington home earlier this month.
New Kensington Police announced that John’Tai Cannon was arrested on the evening of July 19 by Tarentum Police after investigators obtained a warrant charging him in the shooting.
According to police, the investigation found Cannon initially asked the victim if he could use the victim’s grill to cook food.
Police said Cannon and his brother later became involved in a verbal argument outside the victim’s residence over a dice game. Investigators allege the two damaged the victim’s property during the dispute.
As the victim attempted to call police after seeing several people with guns, Cannon allegedly fired two rounds at him. One of the bullets struck the victim in the leg, according to investigators.
The victim survived the shooting.
Cannon was taken into custody without incident and faces an attempted homicide charge in connection with the investigation.
The case remains under investigation.
Cannon is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
